Tinaheally Healy Enduro 2nd November 2008

Tthe regs and entry for Tinahealy Enduro are now out. Please pre enter if you can. Thanks to Joe Duffy BMW for sponsoring this event.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
1. Due to one of the forests that we use for this event being double booked we have had to change the date to the 2nd of November.

2. At Clonaslee there were a number of riders penalised for having bikes that were too noisy. These riders must present their bikes for a noise test before they are allowed to sign on at Tinahealy. Also, there will be a noise and light test at an undisclosed point on the circuit during the event. So please ensure that you make every effort to comply with the road traffic laws and have your bike in order. Bikes that are CLEARLY in violation of the rules of the road only serve to draw unwanted attention. If you do not wish to incur penalty points or possible disqualification please ensure you comply with the rules of our sport.

Mothball Rally - 3rd to 5th October 2008

Time to relax and get the road bikes out for a weekend. The Mothball Rally will take place from the 3rd to the 5th of October. Starting in Clonaslee for those who can get off work early on the Friday stopping in Killaloe and then onto Dungarvin Saturday night. So if you are unfortunate enough to own a GS1200 or lucky enough to have a similar style bike from a reputable manufacturer, get it out from under the canvas, polish her up and have a good weekend...

Enduro Training School gets Thumbs Up!

It was a long time coming but when it did it got the thumbs up from all who took part! The fact that it stopped raining for 12 hours and the sun came out for the day was an added bonus. 15 lads and 1 hardy woman from the Novice and Sportsman classes took part in the first school to be run for a few years now and the feedback was all good. So much so two of the lads took the time out afterwards to put their thoughts on the experience onto paper. Click on the links below to see what they had to say.

Shane's Thoughts

Jonny's Thoughts

A special thanks to Mick Kearns, Chris Matthews, Philip & Robin Powderly, Trevor Byrne, Derek Kehoe & Godfrey who all helped to make the day the success that it was. The thinking caps are already on to see when the next one can be run...

Clonaslee Enduro

Entries are now open for Clonaslee Enduro. George and his band of merry men have been very busy over the last few weeks as they have had to rethink the whole event due to a major land slide which has put 30 foot of bog over one of the areas usually used. Thanks for Murphy's Motorcycles Mallow for sponsoring this event. Mick is catching up with technology at the moment so he doesn't have a web site yet but you can see the current list of bikes he has for sale by clicking on the logo below.

New Enduro Web Site

As most of you may know at this stage a new enduro web site has been set up soley to cater for the Enduro community. Check it out on www.enduro.ie

Killavullen Update - Sunday Strat Time is Changed!

Please be aware that we have had to change the starting time for the Sunday of Killavullen to 10am and not 11am as was on the regs.

Due to Killavullen being nearly a month later than most years we have had to take into consideration how early it will be getting dark and being able to take the whole course down on the Sunday after the event.

Saturday - Sign on will close at 10am and first bike off at 11am.

Sunday - Sign on will close at 9am and first bike off at 10am.

Clonmel Charity H&H Update - Congratulations!!

It's a great great honor to be able to inform you that as a result of the Clonmel Charity H&H, TORC was able to write a cheque for 12,000 Euro for the local Charity that Johnny Molloy is involved in. There are lots of people who need to be thanked for providing their time and services free of charge and if we have forgotten anyone please forgive us, but to mention a few

  • Red Cross
  • Vigor's MX for event prizes
  • Clonmel Motorcycles & Wurth power tools for prizes for the Raffle
  • Motor Cycling Ireland for the event permit
  • All the Lovely Ladies for Tea, Sambos & Cakes
  • Landowners for use of their land
  • Riders for taking part and making extra donations some of which were up to 200 Euro.
  • All the helpers who were out in the rain the week it was canceled!

So to all - thank you! we couldn't have done it without you.

Enduro Training School 7th Sept 2008

It's a long time coming but it's finally here. New guidelines have been adopted by Motor Cycling Ireland regarding the setting up and running of training schools. As part of the new approach the first of 20 coaches from all disciplines of motorbike racing have completed the first of a multi stage training course.

We have been very lucky in that three member of TORC have completed the first stage of this course. They are Alan Graham, Derek Kehoe & Darrell Manning.

Now they want to put their training to good use and all the necessary arrangements have been made for the first training school to be held on the 7th of September. This school will be specifically for Sportsman and Novice. The first school will be limited to 20 riders and priority will be given to current TORC members if the school is over subscribed. But now that we have a good team of coaches we hope that the schools will be a more regular occurrence.

Regs & Entry's are available on the Forms & Regs link.

Killavullen 2-Day Enduro 13th & 14th Sept 2008

It's here at last, Killavullen 2-Day Enduro!!! Liam Kelly and his crew already have a few weeks work under their belt and it promises to be the usual weekend of off road bliss. Thanks to Hill Top Motorcycles for sponsoring the event and check out their site by clicking on the logo below.

Clonmel Charity H&H back on!!! 24th Aug 2008

Thanks to some hard work by the lads in Clonmel they have a new venue for Sunday 24th of Aug for the Charity event. It is not going to be a forest event as the forest is still in too bad a condition.

The new venue is an Estate near by, similar to Stradbally but with more open tracks, fields and grass track. Directions to the venue are the same as on the original regs but allow an extra 15 minutes travel time.

Remember there will be a raffle for a number of prizes that have been donated and tickets will be on sale beside sign on, Soup and Sambos will be provided for all and prizes for the Stradbally event will also be given out.

All entries for Borris and the original Clonmel event will transfer to this weekend, 24th of Aug. If you have two entries in you can get the Borris entry returned unless you wish to donate this entry to Charity.

If you cannot make the revised Clonmel date we ask that you consider donating your entry to charity and for the many of you who have already done this a sincere thank you, your generosity is greatly appreciated.

See you all Sunday….

Event Updates

What a summer and it continues to upset us. After a long review with the Clerk of the Course for Borris H&H the unfortunate decision has been made to cancel this event. This decision was influenced by the weather of the parts two weeks and the fact that the weather for the next week isn’t looking much better. The last thing we want to do is run the race for the sake of it and never get invited back after totally cutting up a working farm.

We are reviewing the situation in Clonmel and will make a decision on running the Charity event there on the 24th of Aug. The Clerk of the course will inspect the track this Thursday 21st of Aug and we will send a mail out that evening letting you know.

As this is a Charity event we would ask riders who cannot make this revised date (assuming it goes ahead) if they would consider donating their entry instead of looking for the entry to be returned to them.

For those who have already donated your entry and a number of you who have donated €100 for this event we sincerely than you.

Keep an eye out for more details.

Regards
TORC Committee

Canceled - Clonmel Charity H&H

At 4pm on the 16th of Aug the club had to make the hard decision to cancel this event due to the continuing bad weather. A number of areas around the course were badly affected by the heavy rain and for the sake of one event it wasn't worth the risk of running it and causing irreversible damage to the area.

The charity event will now be carried to Borris H&H on the 24th of Aug weather permitting.

Apologies for the late notice but we tried our best to get you out racing and considering all that was lined up and the work that went into the event by all the lads in Clonmel it's certainly a great shame...

Lets hope Borris can go ahead and we will see you all there...

Borris Hare & Hound

Thanks to some new blood and enthusiasm in the club, Colin Maher and a few of his associates (and yes some of them are dodgy characters) have taken it upon themselves to get Borris H&H on the move.

There were only two dates that we could choose and it was either the week after Clonmel Charity H&H or the week before Killavullen, so it was decided that it would be best not to run it the week before the only two day event of the year and have folk risk getting their bikes bashed up and not ready for Killavullen the following weekend.

This has all come together in the last 48 hours and its success depends on the event being supported. Special thanks to the Red Cross, Mick at Borris County Quads and Derek Traynor at Allmoto who have all supported this at very short notice and it couldn't’t have gone ahead without them.

So please support Colin and his crew, sure it will be a great way to get a bit of race fitness before 2 long hard days in Killavullen. Get your entries in!!!

Clonmel Charity Hare & Hound

Well first of all apologies for the late notice but we have changed the venue for the Hare & Hound on the 17th of Aug. After lengthy negotiations with the local forester in Clonmel, he has given us permission to use some land for an event. This is a major breakthrough for the sport considering that is was only a short time ago that we thought we would never get back into the area again. This is new land that has never been touched by motorbikes so we have one main condition. Basically what the Forester wants is for the local TORC member s to monitor activity in the area in the weeks after the event. If anyone who holds a competitions licence is found to be illegally riding in the area they will lose their licence, and will be reported to the Guards. You are cutting your own sporting throat by riding illegally and ours, so don’t do it, you can think about it but DON’T!!!!!!!!!!

So you have been warned! Don’t bring your sport into disrepute.

Secondly John Molloy, who you all know as a Enduro enthusiast and local organiser come clerk of the course for many years, has asked us to use this event to raise some money for a local cancer charity with which he is personally involved. Although we do make contributions to some charities every year we have not run an event for charity for a while now. So this is it!
Instead of the usual Hare & Hound fee we are asking every rider to pay €60 and €80 late enter which is the normal Enduro fee. However if you feel that you make a further contribution both Jonny and the club would be extreamly grateful. The MCUI, Collte and the ambulance crew (Red Cross) have wavered their fees for this event so that we can contribute as much as possible to the fund.

We thank you all in advance for your support for this event.

Congratulations Elaine & Chris

We couldn't let the fact that our Results Secretary has proved us wrong! Chris told us he was getting married and we didn't believe him. But here is the evidence, photos of the event...

And it was funny that the priest knew so much about Chris (considering he has never been in a Church before). During the ceremony he asked who proposed to who? There was silence from Chris and Elaine just giggled to herself! So says the priest, you were as slow proposing marriage as you are at tests in events, well at least you're consistent...

Well done and best of luck to both of you from all of us in TORC...

Mt Leinster Entires Now Available

The Mt Leinster Enduro will take place on Sunday the 29th of June 2008.

Regs and Entries are available for download from the 'forms & regs' page of the web site.

Please note that due to the current exchange rates we have had to increase the GBP rate for the entry fee.

Torc would also like to thanks our sponsors CCM Racing for supporting this event

Clonmel Enduro 2008 is now Stradbally H&H!!!

Yet again we have been the victims of illegal riding in the area where we run events. Round 2 of the Irish, Southern Center and TORC Championships are officially cancelled as the area in Clonmel where this event was due to be held is inundated by bikes and quads every weekend. At this point there is no replacements venue for this Enduro event.

If illegal riding continues in other areas where TORC runs events they may also be affected. We would ask that if you know of anyone who rides in areas that TORC uses for events please do what you can to get these people to stop. It is in all out interests that we do this to keep our sport alive.

Having said that, we have been able to secure a new venue for a Hare & Hound. It is in Stradbally, Co. Laois…where the “Electric Picnic” is held every year. It will be run on the 1st of June in place of the Clonmel Enduro.

As you all know we had a record entry for Glendalough Enduro and it was great to see so many bikes at an event. As a result of this we find ourselves in a position that we must restrict the numbers for Stradbally H&H to 150 riders as this course would not be able to handle any more than this. So please pre enter so that you will not disappointed if you cannot enter on the day.

Regs & Entry are now available on the form & regs page....

Glendalough Enduro 2008

So the season is off to a start and what a start it was!!! 158 riders entered Glendalough Enduro on the 11th of May and what a day we had. Great course & great weather, what more could we ask for? Thanks to all the crew and helpers who made it a great day, job well done!

Provisional Results are now available, sorry for the delay putting up on the site but we has some technical difficulties. Also thanks to Dave Collins who took a few photos at the test and send them onto us. There is a link to them on the results page.

H&H Event 24th Feb - Update!!

After lengthy negotiations with the local Forester in Cahir we have finally received permission to run an event in a new location, Kilcoran Wood on the 24th of February. But please understand that we are by no means back on track for the rest of the year. Unless the Foresters and Coillte see a vast reduction in illegal riding we are going to have this problem for every event in 2008.

Having said that entry and regs are now available on the forms and regs page. As there are only a few days available to send in pre entries we will make special arrangements for this event only. Pre entries will be accepted by email and paid on the day as long as we receive the email before 8pm on Thursday 21st of Feb. Please ensure that you send the following information to qualify for a email pre entry: Full Name, Address, Class riding in, Licence Number.

Finally being the start of the year it is likely that some competitors do not have their race licence's yet. For insurance reasons there will be no exceptions, if you do not have a race licence you will have to take out a one day licence which will only be issued with a valid medical.

Thanks to Cawley's Motorcycles for sponsoring this event at such short notice. Check them out by clicking on the image below.

2008 Grading

The MCUI Grading List for 2008 is now available on the grading page. For any queries regarding the list please email torcireland@gmail.com

TORC AGM

The TORC AGM will take place on Sunday 3rd of Feb. Details of time and venue will be confirmed shortly. As Usual there will be the "one stop shop" for Membership and Licence applications and Damien from MCUI will be there as usual to take licence applications. Also, the prize giving for all the Enduro Championships will take place.

If you are not able to attend the AGM to renew your membership and get your licence application stamped, you can send the club application and licence application with all photos, medical etc and stamped envelope to the club secretary and they will be forwarded to the MCUI.

Enduro Riders Dig Deep!!

As many of you know Hughie O’Sullivan is always a great man for collecting a few bob for one charity or another. He wont let you say no!!! At the Glendalough event he was collecting for the Mother McAuley Center in Drimnagh, which is an old folks home and there are a few TORC members who have family that attend this center. Hughie’s wife Pat ran in the Woman’s Mini Marathon in aid of the center and they raised €500.

The center was delighted with the few bob raised and sent a note of thanks to Hughie and the Club. They have promised to keep the best armchairs in the center for bikers when it gets too much like hard work for us to go out on the bikes…

Well done Pat, Hughie and all of you that put your hands into the pockets…
